Those who live in the tropics/Southern Hemisphere: what do you do to get into the spirit?

I’m originally from New York (sleepy hollow, actually!) but moved to a tropical country in the Southern Hemisphere a few years ago.

Halloween is my all-time favorite holiday, but I’ve been finding it to be really difficult to get into the spirit and enjoy it as much as I used to now that I live somewhere that feels extremely different from classic Halloween. It also kind of makes me sad/homesick to see all my friends in North America doing all the fun fall things while it’s just getting hotter and hotter here.

For anyone who lives somewhere typically-not-Halloween-like, what do you do to get into the spirit? And what are your Halloween plans in general?
