Lenovo self-service

I closed the lid of my laptop while there was a SIM card ejector on by the keybed, then I put it in my backpack and travelled 100 km. I ooened it and the screen is busted.

The service company wants 280 eur and I have to wait 2 more weeks on top of 2 weeks that it took them so far to establish whats wrong and source parts.

I can find the exact spare oart on ebay for 70 eur - and laptop screen replacement is not exactly rocket science, I already did it once on a similar laptop. Are there any drawbacks to me just doing it by myself?

Is the part UUID tracked somewhere?
