I created the React Job Simulator to help new React developers get their first job.

Hey, I’m Johannes, a Senior React developer with 10+ years of professional experience.

I created a program called the React Job Simulator. The goal is that you get near-production experience BEFORE starting your first job. Kind of like an internship. You work in a production-grade repository and implement realistic tasks based on professional designs. All while using the tools and workflows of the pros.

The idea for this is rooted in my experiences during the first few years of my career. I rarely got interviews, failed coding challenges, and was rejected for being “too junior” because I didn’t know how to send an API request in a production project (it’s not calling fetch inside a useEffect in case you’re wondering).

So far more than 200 developers have joined and many stated that it should become a go-to resource for new React devs.

But getting the word out isn’t easy. My strength is software development, not “marketing”. And that’s why you’re reading this post.

The next cohort starts soon, but you can get the first part for free by signing up to the waitlist today here:

In the free module, you'll learn a professional Git workflow. It’s actually a revamp of the classic Minesweeper game. Just a very slow version played in a GitHub repo with branches, pull requests, continuous integration and code reviews.

Lack of Git knowledge was actually one of the reasons why I failed an interview and I’ve heard from my students that the knowledge gained in this module really impressed their interviewers.

Here’s a comment I received recently via email:

“I wanted to thank you for such a practical github course. Despite my one years of experience with React, I struggled with CI/CD and GitHub, often feeling stuck when working on React codebases.Your course has filled those knowledge gaps, boosting my confidence in these areas. It's been a game-changer for me in working on diverse React projects.”

So if you're looking to get your first React job, then I'd love for you to check this out as I'm confident it can help you.

And feedback is always appreciated, so if you have any questions or problems let me know :)
