I‘ve just been diagnosed and it’s making me depressed

Rant/Vent

I‘m 24 and I’ve just been diagnosed. My boyfriend actually suspected that I had adhd a long time ago but I never really thought about it, I always associated having adhd as just being super hyperactive and extremely talkative. Anyway, the more I looked into it (especially adhd in women), the more I realized that this actually perfectly described me. And ever since I realized that and eventually got diagnosed, I can’t help but feel so depressed. It’s really hard to explain why but I feel like I finally notice every single thing that has made my life harder. The CONSTANT thoughts that never end from the moment I wake up, always feeling like there’s chaos in my brain, always misplacing everything, just wanting to lay in bed because i feel so overwhelmed with the simplest tasks, etc etc the list goes on. I just don’t see things getting better, because I’ve tried „to get my life together and stop being lazy“ so many times already and it has never worked. I‘ve also tried being patient with myself and it hasn’t worked. I still feel like a 19 year old girl that just waits to finally become an adult and have my life under control. I just don’t know what to do anymore. Nothing has changed in the past, why would it change now? The diagnosis honestly just makes it worse because it completely robbed me of believing it will eventually get better. Because it can‘t. You can’t heal adhd and I feel so sad about it.

I’m sorry, I just had to vent. Maybe some of you can relate.
