Pro Ject Debut Carbon Evo Cartridge Upgrade

Hey Everyone!

I got into vinyl about a year and a half ago and absolutely love it! Still on my first record player, a Pro Ject Debut Carbon EVO but have recently noticed a lot of skipping and am thinking the stylus needs to be replaced. As such, I’m thinking of upgrading the whole cartridge and was curious to know everyone’s thoughts on an upgrade.

I’m debating going for the Ortofon 2M Black but have also seen people recommend the AT VM540ML. Not too worried about the price as have been saving up for another upgrade to the record player.

I currently have the acrylic platter and am rocking the Kanto YU6 speakers. Just want to get everyone’s thoughts on a potential cartridge upgrade and if I do go with the black, would I be missing out on sound quality due to any other aspect of the setup.
