Trying to become a dental assistant

Hello all! I’m 23, tired of barely living paycheck to paycheck, and would like to get myself a big girl job so I can finally be stable. I’ve been looking into becoming a dental assistant and was about to enroll into an online college that offers courses to become a dental assistant, but just figured out my state ( South Carolina ) doesn’t require you to have any certifications. How would I go about getting a job in this field with 0 experience? Do I just apply for the job? This is all new to me and I’m just very confused and can’t find a legitimate answer on google.
