Am I wrong for thinking about giving my daughter a placebo?

My daughter has some emotional issues that she needs/wants to address. She has tried traditional therapy which we will also be trying again however she seems convinced that antidepressants are the answer. I would prefer to avoid medication if at all possible. Am I wrong to want to try a placebo first to feel it out and gauge her reaction before trying the real thing?
