can similar changes happen in the sub world? what human roles could be automated? torpedo loading, perhaps, could be further automated, if space permits, but torpedomen would still be needed for maintenance, perhaps.

maybe power plant operation could be further automated? guys in the back are hard to recruit, expensive to train, and hard to retain.

seems like food service is a quality-of-life choice. if all meals were frozen, you could run with a smaller kitchen staff, but that would run counter to recruitment goals, and counter to long tradition.
