Nice, I sell those all the time. Had a couple bad ones, figured they were the exceptions. Guess it's time to try out a few, and send them all back if I see the same thing.

I use one, checked it against a more reputable thermometer found half a degree difference. no biggie

As you can see, some of these were a lot closer than others. As long as you check them you're good.

We've used these guys for years at my job. You just have to know what the variation is for your individual one and check it every so often. This is true for almost every thermometer out there though, unless you're paying $200 for a calibration thermometer. So, honestly, for the price they're just fine. They will also start to become less and less accurate as the battery wears off.

For what it's worth, I changed all the batteries out with brand new ones and got the same results.

Yea, they don't necessarily get more accurate with new ones, but if they start losing the accuracy they started out with that's usually the solution.

I have one of these. It was spot on give or take half a degree when it was new. I'm assuming the battery is dieing as the display goes out a a lot and reads 400 at times. Its been almost s year so its def time to replace the battery. W good battery .5ish off. With bad battery it ready currently 86.9 but my normal thermometer in my tank reads 80.1. So w a dieing battery it is very off but I always go by my floating mercury glass one.
