[Guide Request] Socks

I'm pretty new to MFA and really want to update my current wardrobe. I've been in the process of upgrading it, bought some new chinos, OCBDs, a couple of sweaters, and now am looking at shoes to buy.

When I look around the subreddit, I always see people wearing their new CDBs, boat shoes, canvas shoes, oxfords, etc etc... I would like to start buying nicer shoes too, but I don't know what socks to wear, and what socks not to wear with each different type of shoe.

I would like it if there were a guide to say what works and what doesn't work with various types of shoes. It would also be helpful to list the best brands to buy socks from.

Another idea would be to explain which colors are most appropriate for a certain occasion - formal, casual, etc. I see a lot of people in WAYWT wearing some crazy socks that get good reviews, and don't know if it's for a more casual or formal environment.

I'm sure this guide request will have the veterans of this subreddit laughing, but I feel like it's an important detail to dressing well that isn't really mentioned anywhere in the sidebar.

Of course, if I'm just blind and there is already a link there please comment below and I'll pretend not to be embarrassed.
