I think? Rap song but I don't think the artist is a rapper

All I can give you is a summary of the last stanza - it starts slow and builds up to the end. It's a very sad song I think about being on the threshold of death maybe? Or how things can change in a second?

A mother gets a call at night from the police about her son being in an accident of some kind. She gets in her car in her nightgown and is panicking as she drives to the hospital. She makes it there in time and is praying for him to make it. I don't think that he does but I can't quite recall.

The other stanzas in the song are similarly sad but I just can't remember any specific lyrics! It's very epic sounding. Hopefully someone can identify it based on that vague description. Thank you for any help! Driving me nuts.
