AITA for texting my housemate about her pet plans during our party?

Not the A-hole

I'm M(32) and have lived with four other housemates for the past 4 years. Our newest housemate is Hannah, F(21). There have been minor issues with her, but tension rose around our Halloween party planning.

I own two dogs; one is reactive. I've trained her not to bother unless provoked, and I'm very clear about not allowing other dogs on the property, as my dog could attack them. Both my dogs are on our lease, and I've paid a deposit for them. I also cover a major part of our security deposit due to my pets.

Hannah is often away, visiting her boyfriend (35) in a neighboring state. She's only around on school nights. We found it odd that a 35yo is dating a 21yo, but it's her choice. The boyfriend, however, is jobless and can't be without his dog because he's overly attached to it.

While planning the party, I heard from other housemates that Hannah plans to bring her boyfriend's dog and keep it in their truck, occasionally letting it out. Two concerns: 1) The cold weather isn't suitable for that breed, and 2) my reactive dog would see it. Despite everyone advising Hannah to discuss this with me, she avoided me entirely.

Fed up, I texted her about it. She responded, stating that they planned to inform me once they confirmed the boyfriend's availability, even though she'd already mentioned he would attend. When I explained the issue with my dog, she suggested I crate them. I advised her to consider pet-sitting options and reminded her of our lease's no-additional-pets clause. She then demanded to see the lease.

On the party day, I opted to leave to avoid any drama. Her boyfriend spent the next few days smoking in her room, with the dog rarely taken out of the truck for short walks. The house smelled of cigarettes, and they left the window open all weekend, making the house cold and smelly.

I texted Hannah about the tobacco smell, and she got upset, claiming I should've spoken in person. But considering she's mostly absent and avoids confrontations, I see no difference. Now she's insinuating Im straining her relationship. So, AITA?
