Why is my Kali Linux consuming 100% of the 4 cores without any high load?

I just bought my new laptop and installed Kali Linux on virtual box and for some reason its very slow and choppy. When I just move a terminal window or start typing the CPU usage becomes around 100% (inside kali) and is super slow. My PC has almost the same specs but Kali runs smoothly with no issues.
VM specs:
CPU: 4 cores
RAM: 4 GB

Host Specs:
CPU: Ryzen 7 5000 series (8 cores)
RAM: 16 GB 4266 MHz
