A HERO - CRISPR Sickle Cell Treatment on way to approval - A Step Towards HOPE

News

It takes bold actions for me to assign the label of Hero to a person who has gone up and beyond. Victoria Gray is a HERO in my book. She stepped up when it counted and also when being a test subject was not very founded in the black community.

If you have ever known or seen a Sickle Cell victim in crisis, you will understand how great this can be for them. Black people should shout praises to Victoria Gray for being the beginning. Her life should be chronicled in history books, IMO.

Although not a cure, this treatment will help stop, among other complications, the needless excoriating pain that many Sickle Cell victims experience during crisis and help them have a life of normalcy. I know some might say what’s so great about normalcy - for a Sickle Cell victim, normalcy is a great accomplishment.

Of course, this is just the beginning because there are lots of barriers as the article points out - but this is a step forward, a step towards hope.
