Where and how does my hero respawn?

I'm playing the rajendra campaign on ae2de on my xbox. Everh time my hero dies they keep saying take him back to camp etc but i don't see them respawn there.

Its mentioned in the hints they will respawn for one of the missions but it has never happened. Any idea where and how they respawn?
