Transferring utilities (Con Ed and National Grid) from building management?

Hi, I just signed a lease this weekend and need to transfer utilities from building management (they told me to do it). I wanted to ask if I am required to show the management company that the new account is under my name (same as lease) or can I use my dad's name?

P.S. My credit is pretty miserable, sorting this out and wanted to do something without creating a scene.
