Can illegal weed be toxic?

Ok so I live in a country where weed is very very illegal and the quality of it changes a lot.

I was wondering if the worse quality weed can be toxic by having inpuritiew such as some pesticides or even spray paint or something similar. I would want to smoke only organic weed but you NEVER know what you get.

Anyone have any experiences about this topic?
