My bf [16M] wants to break up with me [16F]

So, just a couple of days ago I impulsively wanted to break up with my boyfriend to isolate myself from the one I love the most as my mental health just really sucks right now. Today he said that he wants to break up because when I "fake broke up" with him he felt like he had lost a friend not a girlfriend. Adding onto that he said that he has really loved me before but since a couple of months it kinda just stopped and that he tried keeping the relationship up but that I deserve better than that and that we should end it. I was completely shocked and proposed a break where I heal and think about if I really want to be with him and he thinks about his feelings for me everything considered. On December 1st he wants me to text him to finalize our relationship status but I’m pretty sure he’s set on it. I don’t want to lose him as I love him a lot and think that because I’ve fallen out of love for a short period of time as well that it can be rekindled again. Another important thing to add is that we haven’t even met yet which is why I think we should just be patient and try even though he said he has already tried, but I think him trying alone without telling me anything really fails our communication and that if we’re both aware and put an effort into it, it can actually work out. In my opinion he’s just trying to solve things on his own again as he always does but a relationship is a thing where two are involved and it would be a pretty big mistake if we broke up over character flaws that can be improved, especially since we’ve been together for almost 3 years and we both value and care for each other deeply. He said "Goodbye.” before our "1 month break" Opinions and advice would be greatly appreciated.
