Controller update

Hi! I am so fing annoyed righr now I can't tell you. So, basically my problem is that I am playing xcloud on my pc, with an xbox controller. When I am playing, the controller buttons seem to freeze, so the buttons that I was pressing at the moment of the "freezing" remain "pressed" (not physically, but just in the game) and the controller doesn't respond to any button presses ever until I turn it off and on again. So I thought let's update it, since it was the case with both of my older (but not really used) controllers. I downloaded the xbox accesiories app to my laptop, and opened it. It greys out the configuration and the "..." Button, I can only Test my controllers. It say I have to connect via USB. I plugged them both in separately, with multiple USB cables, to different usb ports on the laptop and it doesn't connect. The controllers vibrate when plugged in, but don't turn off. Nothing seems to work. The controllers don't work properly.and I can't update them because lf how fked up the system is. Please someone give me a solution
