From Sign Language to Sign Language

How do deaf people deal with different sign languages? Even British Sign Language is different from American Sign Language. If they write in the same language, I imagine they can just pass notes or text one another. If that isn't the case, an interpreter does seem like the most likely solution. Are there services that can provide that kind of support?
