I'm being blackmailed

A guy I dated for two years has been blackmailing me for a year now, he has my private pictures. I never acted like I got scared because then that would encourage him more to do that. Now recently he made an Instagram account and sent me my own pictures. I immediately knew it was him because I never sent it to someone else. I talked to a lawyer about it and he suggested that we should compromise if we could because I too won't want my parents to get involved in this matter. We were talking about compromise where the guy accepted he sent me those pictures and won't do that again. I asked him for a video where he would accept what he did, apologize for it and give assurance that he won't repeat it again. He straight away denied to that saying if in future I'm in the same situation I might blame it on him. On my end, I don't think I'm asking for much. I'm feeling very weird about this whole situation thinking it is the same person I trusted the most at some point in my life. And how he's only thinking about himself and even saying I might get in the same situation in future as well. Well if he can blackmail then he can do anything. I feel very exhausted emotionally and really need some legal advice on what I can do now???

We are both 21 now but the photo he has is of when I was 17. So yes he has pictures of a minor.
