Xbox Aim Assist feels non existent

Is this broke? I've tried all the settings and notice nothing. I've aimed at targets right in front of me, and nothing. Yeah there's some games where it can be brutally overzealous (the perks tree page in the menu is a great example of violent snap-on) t as a console pleb I need all the help I can get. Noone wants to play with someone who can't hit sh*t.

Also, is there friendly fire? Voice lines say so, but team health doesn't change. Kinda hard with people running about in front like Florida Man.
