Looking for some suggestions about what to do with grey walls in a rental

My new rental has light grey walls that I cannot paint over. I very much despise depression grey as a “neutral” paint but it’s everywhere. What are some suggestions to add color to walls or things you’ve done in the past outside of temporary wallpaper? I am allowed to hang things. I do love a good whimsigoth aesthetic but I’m open to whatever!
