No Likes on Insta?

I have been observing this for the past 4-5 years. Why do friends who are in close contact ( live in the same city, work in the same place or coming from the same country) don't like each other's pictures anymore on Instagram? I tried to think of every possibility. It's not that these people don't come on IG or use it less, they will respond to your dms/ memes/ reels. But when it comes to liking, they just don't! Unless it's some goddamn life changing event where they feel like oh this is a special occasion..this can deserve a like from me! One reason I could think of was opinions. A lot of people refrain from liking your post if once they saw you posting about something that they don't agree with. But it can't be the same with everyone!

Have you guys been through this? What do think is the reason?
