Costocondritis and dips
I'm a beginner at bodywieght strength training(i've been training seriously for about 6 months).
(My level : 30 push ups, 8 clean chest to bar pull ups)
At first I trained without any program, i was doing push ups and pull ups.
Then I bought dips bar and started training dips with much intensity and volume because I loved doing them.
I could do about 15 bodyweight dips so I started doing weighted dips within days i was doing 5X10kg weighted dips.
I started feeling something weird in my chest area, around my sternum but kept going.
Eventually the pain was so bad that I couldn't do dips or any other exercices like pull ups, even holding the light dumbell for lunges hurt alot(I was feeling the pain even by just breathing).
I stopped training for 2 weeks and then I started training again but only back and legs since every pushing movement was very painful.
It's been months and i feel fully healed, i can train the push up or pike push up without any problems but when i try to do dips again, even if it's one or two reps I get a bit of pain(the pain seems to be delayed because I feel nothing while doing the dips but i feel it after).
Never did any rehab or anything, I can't afford a physical therapist.
My previous dips form was not great(I leaned too much forward and went too deep) but now I do it correcly with restricted ROM but still have the pain.
I think dips is a great exercice with great carry over to alot of pushing movement.
So what should I do ? Should i try to rehab or give up dips ?
