Mac M1 Pro chip controller issues

Along with poor frame rate and lag, my controller just won’t work properly. Using the Xbox series s/x controller and my triggers do not work at all, as well as the share, home, and view button. My dpad is also useless as if it’s touched it will react as if I’m holding down or if my controller had down stick drift. I’m sure it’s not the controller because it works perfectly everywhere else.

Is there any fix for controller support not including emulating windows or should I just give up now?
