Low Participation Embarrasment

Every year, my institution has a Dia de Los Muertos celebration and departments create ofrendas that are set up in the student commons. There is food, and performers, and it is expected that my program participate as a main player (my program is Mortuary Science).

Despite it being presented to them weeks ago, despite reminders, and despite talking about it in every class for the last month, only 3 students showed up to participate. Less than 20% of the class.

Every year, participation goes further down. Even if things are part of their grade, they don't care. They won't do anything.

The only purpose of this post is to vent and express my deep embarrassment in my inability to garner participation in events that are expected of my program. Hopefully, some of you understand.
