Lingering symptoms 51 days after gastroenteritis. Post viral syndrome?
21 M, 155lbs (previously 165lbs), 5’10, no prior health issues
Before all this started I was a very active skateboarder and musician.
On September 9th I noticed I had a really sore throat and nose but nothing debilitating. On September 11th I stayed up all night long after feeling ill and eventually threw up. I then had a full blown stomach bug that lasted around 1.5 weeks.
I ended up going to Urgent Care and they tested me for COVID, RSV, and Influenza A/B. All came back negative.
After the initial sickness was over I had some lingering GI symptoms (constipation, nausea, bloating after eating). I saw a gastroenterologist who performed blood and stool tests. Bloodwork came back normal and stool tests also came back normal.
For awhile after this I started to feel a lot better. I was back to my normal routine of daily skateboarding. Until a couple of days ago.
Ever since my last skate session 3/4 days ago I haven’t felt right. I almost feel like I have a cold but without actually having one.
My current symptoms are: not as much energy, morning nausea that feels worse than usual, abnormally cold calves/feet (constantly wearing socks), increased sensitivity to cold temps, brain fog all day.
The morning I start off at my worst and then gradually get better as the day progresses only to restart once I wake up again.
