I apologize for how long this is! I figured I’d give enough info

Backstory: I just want to start by saying I am not an expert. I’ve bounced between Paganism and Wicca for over 10 years now after finding out I come from generations of Amazonian witches. I was born in Brazil and as I got older things just made sense. I’ve only ever done “rituals” during Sabbats with other like minded people during festivities so things technically weren’t done as should or taken as serious yet still all the fun. I’ve always believed when the time is right for you to harness your own power, you will know but you will only know with years of extensive research, books, in person conversations with those who are elders in the practice, meditation, multiple ego deaths, and a very open observable mind. Knowledge will let you know when the time is right. I did my first “spell”, I guess you’d call it, about 5 years ago after 5 years of studying the occult and metaphysics because I learned so much during those times I felt as if I wasn’t ready but after my dark night, well I just live differently now. I am still always learning and I feel like there is no end to knowledge and no real way of doing things.

The Ritual: This year it was just me and my boyfriend of two years doing it so we took it pretty seriously. To preface, we used The Witches Bible by Janet and Stewart Farrar to guide us through the opening, the sabbat, and the closing ritual. We slightly modified some of the things the book told us to do to fit our comfort and for simplicity sake. For our version of the Samhain ritual we burned a blend of Frankincense and Myrrh resin along with a blend of herbs for protection and manifesting inside a couldron lined with sea salt. We wrote what we wanted to manifest for the upcoming year on individual dry bay leaves. We burned them using an orange candle and allowed a few drops of the wax fall onto the burning basil inside the couldron. We did the same for what we wanted to release and leave behind for the new year, this time using black candle to burn and drop wax onto the basil. We meditated and tried to connect with those in the other realm. We did the consecration of wine and cakes using whole grain bread and water since we do not drink alcohol. We performed the “actual” Great Rite and then the closing ritual along with leaving offerings at the alter.

My question: The colored candles that represent the elements all came from the same candle set yet they burned weird. There was no draft, fan, heater, ac, nothing that could have messed with the way the candles were burning. We didn’t notice at the time but after closing the ritual I noticed how the North and West ones burned all the way down but left no wax while the South and East ones left wax. We both invoked and banished each watchtower, thanking them.
I’m not sure if this signifies anything but the man in the photo in between the ones that did not leave wax is my boyfriends brother whom he was very close with and invited to our circle. To make things more interesting, the next morning his photo was knocked over and there was no way it could have randomly fell over in the middle of the night when this whole time it hasn’t.
Also, during the Great Rite I looked over at the candles while I was harnessing my female energy if you catch my drift and one of the candles made a loud popping sound. I’m assuming that’s when those blew out.

Can anyone explain or am I just looking too deep into it?

Strange way my candles melted after performing Samhain ritual. What does it mean?
