What's so great about enlightenment? Why do people strive for it?

Enlightenment is nothing but to switch on the light. It is important because imagine, if we have no light in our room and it's full of darkness, we will not be able to see anything. We will not be able to do anything. And just like we must dispel darkness in a room, we also have to take off the veil of ignorance from within and we can't do it with a broom. We need enlightenment, we need to switch on the light, we need that spark of awakening, of spiritual realization, we need the help of an enlightened master. And if we don't attain the state of enlightenment, then we will just live and we will die. We will carry our karma and will return to earth in a rebirth. Again we will suffer the pain of the body, misery of the mind, agony of the ego. And then again we will be gone only to be reborn. Enlightenment is the way to be liberated from the cycle of death and rebirth, liberated from all misery on earth.
