Can my wife keep her private insurance?

Hello everyone! Both my wife and I have a private health insurance (different companies). My wife now applied to a job and they will send her the contract, they told her however that she cannot have private insurance and that she has to change to a Krankenkasse. Do you guys know why? Is there any way for her to keep her private insurance? Thank you so much!
