ASUS scam story

just earlier today my computer started going crazy and repeating a message about my computer being compromised and shut down until i contacted the support. (i have a laptop and i use it for my college work for context) so i call the support number the weird screen gave me because i couldn't click out of it. an Indian guy answers and starts to ask what the issue is and the rest of the standard stuff. he then asks what i use my laptop for so i tell him i'm in college. he began to ask me what im in college for and why im in college and where im going to college. he has be go to a screen where the ASUS support app thing is. it required a code so i told him i needed to know the code to access what he was asking me to access. up to this point hes been fairly polite, only slightly rude and he asked a few personal questions and i answered as vague as possible because he wouldn't stop asking. he then proceeds to SPELL OUT THE CODE. he said 'V AS IN VICTOR D AS IN DOG" and so on. he'd done this before but not to this degree and if i'm being honest it was funny but it was also ridiculous. i had a friend with me who heard the entire thing and they were turning around to look at me in confusion because of what he was saying . after i gave him the code he gained access to look at things on my laptop so i watched him do his thing. he claimed i had multiple hackers and multiple hacker attempts on my laptop. so i asked him if he could fix it he completely ignored my question. on my home screen of my laptop i have a picture of me and my boyfriend on our first official date, he sees this picture and asks if its me or my dad in the picture. (i have short hair in a shag mullet, female, and i'm very pale, my boyfriend is Mexican we do not look related.) im not sure who he was referring to in the picture so all i told him was that it was my boyfriend not my dad. i'm muting the call everytime i don't need to respond so i can talk to my friend about the chaos that's unfolding in this phone call, and if i didn't respond immediately after he'd say something he would repeatedly tell me "you need to listen when i talk to you" and "you need to respond" to me that felt very rude and uncalled for as i don't know this guy and i've never done anything to him and despite the call going nowhere and being frustrating i was being as polite as i could. he would get mad when i had to ask him to repeat something. (i have a lot of trouble understanding people in general, accents while i love them make it much harder for my brain to process what is being said and because of this i had to ask him to repeat things, it happens with everyone its just more likely with a heavy accent.) in the end he got into my notes on my laptop and typed out his "name" and his "employee ID" before telling me for him to fix any of the "problems" on my laptop id have to pay him $99.99, when i told him i didn't have that kind if money to spend on that he made an annoyed sound and hung up the call. WHEN HE HUNG UP HE STAYED ON MY LAPTOP AND WOULD NOT LEAVE. i messaged him through the search bar because i knew he would see it and told him ti get off my laptop. he wouldn't leave so i shut it down and started it back up and hes gone now. i'm pretty sure this is a scam as i looked up the ASUS support number after and it was very different, and he didn't help with anything all he really did was close the weird pop up window and snoop around. sorry for the long post i was looking for a place to write a review with my concerns to ASUS and saw this thread. has anyone else had an experience like this?
