I really want to be a high school English Teacher.

I'm about to have an associates degree in creative writing from my local NYS (SUNY) community college. I really do not want to do another two years at a state college to get my bachelor's. Should I get my bachelor's from WGU in something like secondary earth science and then get my master's in curriculum and instruction and worry about certifying in English afterwards? What path do you suggest? NYS doesn't accept the MATEES as far as I know. I really do not want to teach elementary school kids either. Any help and suggestions would be very helpful and appreciated.
