To celebrate the full reveal of Wave 6, I put every course name in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe through Google Translate
(Note for the mods - I've already picked out all track names I believed could violate rule 7 and done replacement translations for them if necessary, so I can just swap them out if I need to.)
I've gotten a kick out of Google Translate garbling words in translation for a long time now; I even uploaded a Smash Ultimate roster translation video to YouTube that amassed far more views than any other thing I've put out on my channel. I intended to get to all Mario Kart track names down the line for another upload, but never got around to it - but with some retranslations and new ones added since then, I've compiled a list of translations for every English course name in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe to post here instead! That includes all base game courses, all Booster Course Pass tracks, all battle courses, and even the British English names for any course that has a different name depending on the version.
Before I get into the translations, though, I do want to get into my process a bit.
The benchmark I set for myself was trying to ensure any links to the original course name were tenuous at best, and that meant extensive work at times. I used whatever tools I had at my disposal, which meant at times clicking on the "Did you mean" option, clicking on options that forced the English side to match the other language, or relying on languages that frequently messed up and spat their translations back out into the English side of Google Translate. (I found Hmong, Igbo, and Samoan to be particularly useful for that, while Sindhi was a language I found myself relying on a lot to get garbled translations that were still actually in English). Additionally, for any track that had the exact same name as another course in the game, I included the prefix when starting the translation process - so I translated, say, GBA Mario Circuit, but for a track like DS Wario Stadium, I did not include the prefix because N64 Wario Stadium is not in 8 Deluxe. For consistency with the game, the prefixes are listed for all tracks that have them. Lastly, I tried to make a conscious effort to keep the translations varied while also getting them to a point where they're not incomprehensible, as is a common occurrence with any Google Translate content like this.
