So an update from my first day with Enzo.

He absolutely loved playing with my other small dogs.

When I went to sleep he stayed next to me and was super alert. He was a lot more calm, but still very alert as if he was ready for anything.

Around 1:15 AM he jumped on my pillow and started licking me. Then when he saw I was awake he went to the potty pad on the floor, then to the door and started to whine. I took him outside and he went potty. He didn’t use his pad but he also didn’t have an accident in my room. When I took him outside he went potty then we went back to sleep.

At 8:45 we went outside after he ate. He peed and then we went inside. Around 9:00 he pood on a kitchen mat. The day prior he had peed on the same mat twice.

I believe he thinks that kitchen mat is a potty pad and he keeps using it. He came from an owner who lived in an apartment and used potty pads. I need to break this habit. We have a doggy door and he can go outside whenever he wants if we are downstairs. If we are in my room I need to make sure he has no accidents. My floor is wooden and I don’t want it to ruin the floor.

Any tips to help make the change from potty pads to getting him to go outside ?

When I take him out he runs around like crazy and is having a lot of fun. I think he’s having so much fun he’s forgetting he needs to potty. Then we go back inside and he uses the kitchen mat.

I’m still very happy to have my handsome boy. I just need to get him up to speed. Other than that he seems like he is adjusting very well!
