Why should I spend a lot on gear?

Trying to venture into espresso, seeing a lot of review of machines and grinders.

Thing is, for what should be a pretty technical / "objective" topic, there is a lot of confusione and opposite reviews: flaws, issues, type of coffee produced.

This is for grinders, machines and burrs alike.

In this scenario, even if I have a decent budget (above 1000) why should I go for it when everything is blurry and it seems there are actually more people happy with a Bambino and Baratza Encore?
