Chinese diesel heaters electrical power draw?
I don't know if there is another post about this - if so, please direct me to it because I haven't been able to find it.
I am 100% a beginner when it comes to power/electricity. I have people who can help me with it, but they aren't available all the time and I'm the one sitting at my computer doing research about what I want in my space. I saw that chinese diesel heaters (or just "diesel heaters?" Is there a difference? Genuinely asking) take a small amount of electricity, so I was like, "Great! Sounds perfect!"
Except for the fact of when I go to look at them, a lot of them have "8kw" or "5kw" right after them. What I've learned about watts is that there are 1000 watts in a kw. So I'm just confused because people will say "Oh it pulls 10 amps at startup and then 0.5-2 amps over time, so low!" and like... that's a lot of power???? There is 120 watts in an amp! My Iceco fridge is only 30 watts (which I know is different than watt hours, but my solar system can 100% handle it).
There has to be something I'm not understanding or missing. It's running off of diesel, so it can't be pulling that much power, right?
I almost didn't post this because I feel a little unintelligent. Can someone please explain this to me in simple terms? Thank you, please be kind. I'm learning :)
