How do I interpret this?

I met this man who lives out of state two weekends ago. We’re both in our mid twenties and went to high school together. I flew to meet him after a little over a month of daily conversation. The weekend we had together was really great in my opinion. I guess it wasn’t the same for him? (We slept together lol) Our communication absolutely dwindled upon my return home and I ended up calling him on Sunday night (a week after I returned) to get a little clarification and see where his head is it. I didn’t feel like it did anything to help me gauge this any better so i just sent a “not gonna bother ya” type text and ended it with asking him to let me know if he ever finds himself in my state. With a heart!

His response was really nice but I dont know how to interpret it. He told me he had a nice time and that he hopes I believe him. He said that he appreciates my life outlook and ability to have conversations most can’t. Said that (during our two our drive together) that he was so smiley when we were discussing x topic. Said that he’s always here to talk because he trusts and values my opinion? And finally said I will be the first person he contacts “if and when” he’s in my state.

Tell me to give up? Lol
