Bipolar 2 or bad reaction to Ambien ?

Hi, newly diagnosed as of 09/07. Starting in early August I started to have some pretty bad insomnia due to stress. I was having girlfriends visit so decided to get a prescription of ambien, since I had taken one of my moms in the past and it worked before. However this time I would take it and wake up anywhere from 2-5 hrs later. My mental state deteriorated over the course of the month and started having suicidal ideations.

I definitely didn’t feel any of euphoria people speak of with mania or hypomania, but I did feel very restless, needed to pace around a lot. I was super anxious about getting sleep and my thoughts felt very fast.

I received a bipolar diagnosis, partly I believe because my mother is bipolar. I was put on 100 my of Seroquel and have been stable at that dose for the past month and half. Given that I’m stable at such a low dose and still sleeping well I am wondering if it’s not bipolar. I am getting a second opinion from another psychiatrist on Nov 7th.
