Recieved a V5 for a car I didn't buy.

Misc Question

About a month ago I put a £500 deposit on an approved used 2018 car from a main dealer - test drive seemed OK and they told me it would take a week or two for their workshop to prep it.

They stalled for another couple of weeks, then told me that their technicians found some serious problems with the car and they couldn't sell it to me.

But they found another near identical model, but a couple of years newer, which they could sell me for the same price. I agreed, so now we're waiting for them to prep that car.

In the meantime, this morning I recieved a V5 doc, in my name, for the original 2018 car they couldn't sell me.

This is a big brand main dealer, not some shonky backstreet shop - seems weird that they'd process the registration docs before they took full payment.

Not really a question, just wanted to share this experience.
