Battery pop-up not working

I realise the battery pop-up (when opening the case next to the phone) can be flaky. However on my iPhone 15 Pro and Airpod Pro (v2) it ONLY works when I reboot the phone. It will work with other devices (e.g. iPad Mini) but not the phone. Have tried everything I can think of but can't find a solution.

Any suggestions welcome!
