Should I go straight into Nuzlockes as a beginner?
I’ve been playing some Pokémon games (FireRed, Black, Ruby/Sapphire) on and off for years now. Typically, I start out fine just following the story, but eventually I get bored and end up using cheats or look up walkthrough videos just to finish the game.
I’ve encountered XQC’s video recently playing Nuzlocke and I actually found it interesting, with the randomizer and that kind of stuff, especially with the added thrill from the rules.
I’ve never finished Pokemon Black so I thought it’d be the perfect game to do it. So then I started with my first nuzlocke. It was exciting but then at times I kinda felt stupid for not understanding the concept of Pokémon types or which Pokémon was strong against other Pokémon. Sometimes, I get shocked because I get one-tapped by a random Pokémon that I’ve never heard of or get annoyed because of how cheesy some Pokémon are.
Would it be better to play the game in vanilla first and try to learn about all the concepts first?
