Tips for poTs

I figured I should leave some things I’ve learned for anyone looking for things to help manage symptoms! (I also have autism so a lot of these are sensory friendly)

  1. Staying cool. I LOVE ice packs. If you don’t have one, you need one. I don’t like when the condensation makes them wet so I get gel pads. If you tend to overheat in public, an absolute lifesaver, instant cold packs. Another thing you’ll want is a portable fan. There’s a really cute & functional one on Amazon shaped like a bear (and it comes in different colors!).

  2. This tip is honestly the most important. Take care of yourself & listen to your body. Now you’ll hear this a lot but it’s very real. If you aren’t getting enough nutrition or fluids, your symptoms will worsen SO much.

  3. Going out. Always bring a salt packets or supplements, and if you have medication make sure to carry that as well. Before I go out I eat a small meal and hydrate. Big meals will make your blood go to your digestive system. If you don’t eat though, you can become fatigued. Make sure to bring an electrolyte drink or mix, some places won’t allow drinks inside but it is considered medically necessary.

I think that’s all I’ve got, can you guys leave anything you know in the comments? Especially for Hyperadrenergic poTs!
