Can a request a specific salesman?

US Sale

I've been to a dealership a couple times in the last month and test driven cars. Prices came in too high for me, but they have used inventory coming in that should be in my price range and I'm serious about if the price is right.

The first salesman at the dealership to approach me was G; the conversation was brief but then another salesman (D) approached and I found out G was in training. I later found out I was the first person he approached. D & G took me on a test drive, I declined on the deal but said I may come back in the future.

This weekend I saw a car online that was supposed to be at the dealership. I texted D, said I was interested in a test drive, and he told me he would check on it. Rinse and repeat 3 more times, with me following up, D promising he would look for it and then never contacting me. Since I wasn't getting any info, I went to the dealership last night to see if it was there- it wasn't, but another salesman (T) approached while I was looking around and we test drove a couple other vehicles. T and a sales consultant (M)worked with me for a couple hours, couldn't get to price that I can manage, but they said the car I came in to look at would be coming in in the next couple days. I saw G around the dealership and said hi; he seems to be mostly out of training. And they must have mentioned to D that I came back into the dealership, because he texted me this morning thanking me for coming in last night and once again promising to look for that used car, even though I didn't see him yesterday.

My question is- if I ask to work with G on this used car, is that going to earn him a hard time from these other salesmen who have worked with me? I'm a young guy in my own industry, and I feel some camaraderie with G. I think it would be cool for G to close on the first guy he ever approached in the lot, but I don't want to do that if these older salesmen are gonna make his life hell for 'stealing the sale' or something if I request it, or divide the commission up 4 ways or something so they all get a cut they don't feel is worth it. From the perspective of salespeople, what would you suggest?
