Retroid Pocket 3+

Hello everyone, I’m new to this handheld stuff and wanted to make sure I’m making the right choice. I’m thinking about getting a RP3+, but I noticed it’s almost a year old and I’ve read that the buttons and the D-pad aren’t very good. So my main concern is there a device in this price category on the horizon I should wait for? I my second concern is that I want a device with a good D-pad that can actually do diagonals correctly. I’ve been playing Pac Man my Miyoo Mini+ and I noticed the diagonals are terrible.
