How do you guys create a logo with not much direction?

I’m currently make a logo for a client and my client didn’t give me much information about the company (it’s a new company so I can’t google it) and after first round of feedback, I didn’t get much else out of them either.

I created the logos to the best to my ability, but I can’t help but think they look god awful, no matter how much I mess with it. (It’s just a word mark, they wanted it to have a thick brown stroke around the text, and the text be pink.)

What do you guys do in times like this?
