is “goodness” a social construct or does it derive from Source?
Questioning Christian back again with a question. It has often come to my mind that society takes a lot of its moral building blocks of civilization for granted. For example, the Ten Commandments and general religious notions are woven into our fabric. We’re taught morals from a young age, pass it down to the next generation, and on & on it goes.
However, the more I delve into spirituality the more perturbed I become by the general idea of ‘nothing is really bad or good; light and dark are just two sides of the same coin’ neutral stance I see. Without a rulebook or tenants it feels like everyone is sort of free-floating without set guidelines.
What makes stealing and hurting someone worse than being nice to them? How do we know whether goodness derives from Source and what we should be aspiring to do or be? In fact, how do we even know that Source is inherently good and not some trickster?
