One thing I appreciate Violet and Scarlet for: it's clear the programmers really put a lot of effort into the game engine.

I think them having this open world and Moraidon stuff is just to let you enjoy the new verticality element which Pokemon games have been so very behind in. Obviously no, it's far from the strongest game Dev team out there and they're absolutely punished by their ridiculous release cycle, but out there somewhere a group of programmers absolutely worked their asses off, and I appreciate that much.
