Hot hips

Hello Vets and veterinary professionals,

Sooo, hot hips.

I've got a almost 1 year old Shar Pei x Kelpie (Teddy). When patting him we notice that he will sometimes have hot hips, in that the rest of his body is usual temperature but his hip area is noticeably hotter. There doesn't seem to be a pattern, just sometimes they are hot and other times they are not.

I'm aware Kelpie's are prone to hip issues. There are no overt signs of pain and is walking/running fine. We can touch the area with no complaints.

So my questions is, is this an area of the body that does get hotter, or is it worth having some preventative investigations done?

Breed - Shar-Pei X Kelpie
