Should I be concerned about my PC?
Hi all,
Posting this here because I've recently had 2 instances of strange behavior from my PC and I want to know if I should be concerned. A little less than a week ago I was playing Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous and right in the middle of a dialogue scene the voice got a bit distorted and the framerate chugged down to single digits then eventually just froze completely and I just got this electronic droning sound. None of the keys nor key shortcuts were responsive and I couldn't close the program, it was as if the entire PC seized up. I have to manually shut off from the power button. I thought that maybe it was a bug unique to WotR and forgot about it, as I've not had any PC problems up to this point (had it for 3 years, 2 months). I am using Windows 10 for my OS.
Then it just happened again during the setup phase for an overwatch game. The exact same way as well, the framerate chugged down to a halt and then when the PC froze up I got that same electronic droning noise. I'm a bit more concerned now as getting the same issue with 2 completely different games makes me think it could a problem with a component. So, then I would like to know:
- Does this problem sound familiar to anyone? Should I be concerned?
- Is this symptomatic of a dying or declining component? Software problem? Haven't updated MSI afterburner (for fan curves) in a while, but that's it for out of date software.
- If unsure, then is there anything I can do to investigate the problem or determine the 'health' so-to-speak of my various components?
- Any way to ameliorate the problem?
- Anything else to be on the look out for?
I appreciate you for taking the time to read this far, and for any help rendered!
